Volunteer Greater Jackson Launches

The Greater Jackson Chamber is proud to announce the opening of the Volunteer Greater Jackson (VGJ) center. VGJ is one of the exciting initiatives to emerge from Vision 2022—the Chamber's long-term plan to develop and improve economic opportunities within the Greater Jackson area. VGJ will connect volunteers and businesses to non-profits, arts and civic groups in and around Jackson. It will match the skills and schedules of volunteers with opportunities at organizations in need. JSU’s Kumar outlines Jackson revitalization plan

Jackson State University's Dr. Mukesh Kumar has outlined a plan for Jackson revitalization that now will go to local residents and communities for fine-tuning.

Speaking Thursday at the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership offices next to City Hall, Kumar revealed a three-part plan that addresses key elements of making a more livable city.

Jackson Group at Community Progress Leadership Institute

Jackson, MS was chosen as one of eight cities to attend the 2014 Community Progress Leadership Institute (CPLI), a training program focused on equipping leaders with the skills to address large inventories of blighted and vacant properties for the benefit of their communities. CPLI, a program of the national Center for Community Progress (Community Progress), will be held at Harvard Law School March 18-21, 2014. The delegation left March 18.
